Ritual + Ceremony

Our ancestral ritual and ceremony honours the traditions of the Maya, Aztec and Taíno. This a pre-birth and post-birth service does not include birth assisting doula support. This service focuses on the spiritual rite of passage of childbirth.
VISIT BREAKDOWN—
PRENATAL
1 x ~ 90 min visit: Your doula prays over and blesses the Birthing Warrior and Jewel Child for harmonious partnership and journey earth side. The doula then prays for the entire family/support team and birthing assistants. She will pray and clear the energy of all four corners of the space, honouring the family's ancestors, and the winds of the north, south, east and west symbolizing the four sides of life: freedom, eternity, unity and balance.
POSTNATAL WITH OLDER CHILD(REN)
2 x 120 min visits: During the first of two post-birth visits, if you have any older children, your doula will spend one-on-one time with the older sibling(s) addressing their feelings about the new addition and role changes in the family while preparing 3 Sisters Stew. This draws upon the Aztec custom of attending to the eldest child to negate any jealousy toward the new jewel child. The Aztecs believed this jealousy would consume the essence of the new baby and would would prepare a sacrificial chicken to take on the negative energy and create a stew for the eldest child from it. We've modernized this! Don't worry, there'll be no chicken sacrifice in your backyard! Just a lot of love, support and encouragement for your older jewel children.
Second visit: On the baby's 7th day your doula will return to bathe and bless the jewel child in a bath of our handmade Blissful & Blessed soak and is adorned with gifts hand prepared and crafted by the doulas.
The mother's hair is then washed in a basin filled with our handmade Sun Salutation elixir and the mother's journey is prayed over. The mother is adorned with gifts hand prepared and crafted by the doulas and the four corners of the room are blessed before the doula's sacred service is complete.
POSTNATAL, FIRST CHILD
2 x 120 min visits: During the first of two post-birth visits, your doula will spend time providing an oracle reading and messages from the ancestors and spirit guides and will provide 3 Sisters Stew for the family.
Second visit: On the baby's 7th day your doula will return to bathe and bless the jewel child in a bath of our handmade Blissful & Blessed soak and is adorned with gifts hand prepared and crafted by the doulas.
The mother's hair is then washed in a basin filled with our handmade Sun Salutation elixir and the mother's journey is prayed over. The mother is adorned with gifts hand prepared and crafted by the doulas and the four corners of the room are blessed before the doula's sacred service is complete.
Our ritual doula Nadine can also work with you to create the "blessing way" that you desire, customized to your specifications and needs. This can look like, blessing and saging your house, creating prayers, affirmations and mantras, arranging for henna art of your belly, hands and/or feet, providing a tarot reading, guidance to setting an alter to your ancestors and guides, creating a birth chart once baby is born.
